These Soft Salted Pretzel Bites are as good as the ones sold at stores like Auntie Anne’s. The recipe is based on the hit dessert soft cinnamon sugar pretzel bites.
This time, it is simple. Instead of making the house-favorite soft cinnamon sugar pretzel bites, I made the soft salted pretzel bites.
Sometimes, I like to stay away from sweets. I pass down that liking to my family. Haha. In all seriousness, we try to eat simple one day a week or something like that.
My father in law is a retired chef. Since he lives with us, our family is showered with great foods every day. Having a simple dish whether it’s a dessert or a meal is our way of detoxing from all of the great foods we eat.
Just an FYI, I don’t mind eating yummy foods, and I like entertaining the meals that father in law makes every day without question.
The recipe for this soft salted pretzel bites is extracted from the soft cinnamon sugar pretzel bites. Basically, it’s the same recipe minus the cinnamon and sugar.
For those who want a simple dessert or something to munch in, then, these soft salted pretzel bites are the right ones for you.
So, without further ado, here is the recipe for our family’s favorite soft salted pretzel bites. Enjoy!
Dissolve the yeast in warm water in a large bowl. Add the salt, sugar, and butter. Stir to combine.
Add the flour, 1 cup at a time, until dough is thick and is no longer sticky. Poke the dough with a finger to see if it bounces back. If it does, then, that means that you achieve the dough consistency needed for this recipe.
Flour a surface. Knead the dough for 3 minutes or until it forms a smooth ball.
Get another bowl and spray it with oil. Place the dough, cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 425ºF or 220ºC.
Bring 8 cups of water to a boil. Add ½ cup of baking soda.
Pull bite-sized pieces from the dough. Drop them into the soda bath. Boil them for 25 seconds.
Remove the bites from the bath and place them on an oiled baking sheet.
Beat together eggs. Brush them over the pretzel bites.
Bake in the oven for 15 mins or until they are golden brown.
Dip each pretzel bite into the melted butter and sprinkle salt to taste. Serve warm.
