Thanksgiving Day just ended. Everyone is my extended family was full and happy because everyone got to eat good food and be with the family. That’s the beauty of Thanksgiving Day.
Every Thanksgiving Day, we have a ton of leftovers that we tend to eat for a couple of days after this wonderful, family day.
A couple of days prior to Thanksgiving, I borrowed a recipe from a friend of mine. It’s the Ham and Cheese Roll recipe. He has served this dish a couple of times. I tell you that it’s always a hit. It’s always a crowd favorite. It’s so simple to make that it doesn’t take a chef to create this dish.
I created this on Thanksgiving. Guess what happened after an hour of putting it on the table? It was devoured. Mind you I created 3 batches of this dish.
The best part of this dish is that it’s easy to make and it’s cheap as well. The recipe calls for ingredients, which most of them were already in our pantry. All in all, I say that I spent at most 7 dollars for 3 batches. Not bad at all.
So, without further ado, here’s my ham and cheese roll.
Pre-heat over to 350 F. Coat 13″ x 9″ baking dish with cooking spray. Set aside.
Unroll the pizza crush. Stretch it to cover 9 slices of ham. Top crust with slices of ham and cheese. Roll the dough starting from the bottom going up. Pinch the seam of the roll and make sure the seam is on the bottom of the roll.
Cut it into 12 pieces. The size of each roll is approximately 1-inch thick.
Arrange in the baking dish. Combine brown sugar, butter, barbecue sauce, mustard, and poppy seeds in a pan. Mix ingredients until they form a smooth sauce. Pour sauce evenly over the rolls.
Note: Avoid burning the sauce. Once the butter melts half way, take the pan out from the heat and keep stirring until the all ingredients are well-mixed.
Cook uncovered for 20 minutes or until rolls are golden brown. Serve. The dish is best served while it’s hot. But it can also be served cold and it will taste as good as when it’s hot.
The outside of the roll should be crusty and brownish while the inside part should be gooey and soft. You can sprinkle some more poppy seeds if you want to. Please let me know how your ham and cheese roll turns out.
