From time to time, my family especially my wife likes to use the crock pot she got as a gift from my sister.
For her, this crock pot is a lifesaver especially when she’s too tired to cook, and I am too tired even to move my body to prepare our food.
One of our favorite slow cooker recipes is the Slow Cooker Pineapple BBQ Meatballs recipe. It’s as good as the one my wife makes using the good, old style way of cooking. To be honest, I prefer the slow cooker recipe than the traditional recipe.
This recipe is for those who still want to make a great-tasting meal that everyone will love without having to spend time in the kitchen. This recipe is packed with flavors. You can taste the pineapple, which is sweet, and the barbecue, which is tangy.
Did I say that this Slow Cooker Pineapple BBQ Meatballs meal is a staple in every family occasion we have?
Yes, every time our extended family has occasion, this is the dish that gets requested to be made in addition to the traditional egg roll, which we also bring.
No one gets tired of eating this dish. Seriously. Everybody is in love with this.
I always get asked what the ingredients are. Of course, I am always happy to give it to them.
To tell you the truth, every time we bring this to a party, people can’t tell if the dish is stove-top cooked or crockpot cooked. It tastes super great that many, if not all, people can’t tell how it’s cooked.
This Slow Cooker Pineapple BBQ Meatballs meal is a favorite in our home.
Almost every other week, my wife makes this. I guess it’s because she doesn’t want to spend a lot of time cooking especially during the weekends and/or she wants us to eat our favorite food. Either way, our stomachs are filled, and our taste buds are satisfied.
The recipe is straightforward, and it only requires a few ingredients, which you can easily buy in your grocery stores.

Here’s our recipe for Slow Cooker Pineapple BBQ Meatballs as well as some comments from people who have tried this recipe.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 bag of frozen meatballs (I used half of the 32 oz of the Great Value Fully Cooked Homestyle Meatballs)
- 1 18 oz bottle of BBQ sauce (or any BBQ sauce of your choice)
- 1 20 oz pineapple chunks with juice
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
Equipment/Tools:
Instructions:
Place your meatballs into the slower cooker. There’s no problem with putting frozen, thawed, or uncooked homemade meatballs. It’s basically up to you.
For this recipe, I used the store-bought one. I used the Great Value Fully Cooked Homestyle Meatballs, 30oz. I only need half it of, which happens to be 16 oz.
Pour the BBQ sauce, pineapple chunks in juice, and brown sugar in the slow cooker. If you want to mix the three ingredients before putting them into the slower cooker, that is fine, too. Mix all the ingredients to ensure flavor consistency when the meatballs are cooking.
I personally like mixing all the ingredients first before putting them into the crock pot. Mixing the ingredients before putting them into the crock pot ensures that the ingredients are well-incorporated together.
Cook it in the slower cooker on high for 1 hour, then, turn down the slower cooker to low and cook for another 2-3 hours or until the meatballs are fully cooked.
Served while hot.
And that’s about it. See I told you it’s going to be easy. Enjoy this dish and I hope you like it as much as my family does.
Final thoughts:
I highly recommend that you pair this with rice. It’s perfect with rice.
The sauce makes the rice stickier, which makes the rice more tasty. Having said that, you can always use prepare this dish as an appetizer and it will still be a hit just like what the other folks said when they tried this recipe.
You simply can’t go wrong with this recipe. It’s delicious, tangy, sweet, and, best of all, easy to create.
Just turn on the crock pot and put all the ingredients and that’s it. In a matter of hours, you’ll have the most perfect meatball crock pot recipe you’ll ever taste.
Are you going to make this recipe? Are you going to use pineapple or some other ingredients to meet your taste buds requirements?
Please let me how this dish fair with the other dishes or meatball dishes you’ve prepared before.

Sounds wonderful, what size bag of meatballs ? Do you use the already precooked ones?
Allan Liwanag
I used the pre-cooked ones bought from the store.

Does it matter what BBQ sauce is used?
Allan Liwanag
no. it doesn’t matter. you can use any type of barbecue sauce you want.

I’m wondering if I might be able to make a large batch (whole 30 oz bag or more) in my large electric roaster, cooking them at low temp. I believe those frozen meatballs are actually already cooked. They would be perfect for our club meeting food with cold side dishes.
Allan Liwanag
I believe the frozen meatballs are already cooked. I don’t see you having any problem with using a large batch in your large electronic roaster.
Megan
Did you pair it with anything? Rice, mashed, etc.. if so what goes well with it?
Allan Liwanag
It goes well with steamed rice. I won’t go for fried rice because the flavor of the fried rice might not pair well with the flavor of the meatballs.

If using homemade meatballs would you recommend cooking them first and then putting them in for this recipe or placing them in the slow cooker uncooked? Worried the grease will throw off the intended flavor. Thoughts?
Allan Liwanag
I would recommend cooking them first. You are correct about the grease part. This recipe is so flavorful and grease shouldn’t really part of the equation. 🙂
