“Can you bring your egg and beef fried rice for potluck?” Those are the words that I usually get when I go to a party. Of course, I gladly abide by such request.
I like bringing my egg and beef fried rice not only because it’s tasty and gets devoured right away but it is also so easy to create. All I need is around 15 minutes and my fried rice is done. It’s that simple to do.
Fried rice is something that is normally made in our house. When we want to eat something other than white rice, fried rice is almost always the substitute. Fried rice is such a flexible food. You can literally stir anything from vegetables to meat or mix of both and you’ll get a new fried rice recipe right away.
Over the past couple of years, our family has made a ton of different versions of fried rice. Each of us in our family has his/her own favorite. One of this favorite is the egg and beef fried rice.
We don’t usually like putting beef in fried rice. We like the beef to be a separate meal. We’re ok though with putting ground beef as one of the ingredients. This recipe has that ingredient (i.e. ground beef). Ground beef brings in an additional flavor to the fried rice, which makes the rice more tasty.
I can’t remember the last time I brought this fried rice to any potluck that it didn’t get consumed in the first 30 minutes. It’s that good. If you are looking for a quick and easy fried rice, then, this recipe is for you.
The color of this fried rice and the aroma are just inviting to the taste buds. I bet you that while you are in the process of cooking this food, you will be trying to pick a little of the rice here and there. Next thing you know, you will have consumed enough for you to be full.
So, let’s now go to the meat of this post. If you are preparing this fried rice for a potluck or somebody else, be warned that you probably will end up making more. That’s how it has been in my case. I’m just telling and I’m not playing when I said you’d end up making more.
Anyhow, here’s my recipe for the egg and beef fried rice. Enjoy.
In a small bowl, mix egg and milk. Beat the mixture until ingredients are mixed. The reason that milk is added is to make the egg fluffier when it’s cook. This is one of the secret ingredients to making fluffier eggs.
Melt butter in a skillet over medium low heat. Fry egg for 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from skillet and shred the eggs into small pieces. The butter is used to give the eggs more flavor.
Heat vegetable oil in the same skillet. Add the onions. Saute until semi-soft. Add the cooked rice, soy sauce, pepper, ground beef, and sesame oil. Stir fry for 3-5 minutes, then, stir in the egg and green onions. Serve warm.
And that’s really about it. There’s no magic tricks or special skills to create this yummy, easy-to-prepare egg and beef fried rice.
